To Kill a Mockingbird Discussion Forum...

Hey guys,

I spoke to some of your peers, and they all believe that opening a discussion forum up for the novel study would be a great idea. In this forum, you can ask questions among yourselves, or to me. I have selected Danish and Payam to lead this out because in the past they have done extremely well with helping you with your quesitons or concerns regarding class assignments. While I want this space to be for the students to discuss things, I will still come here if you need me to.

Have a great time reading and discussing the text. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did when I was your age.

Take care,

Mrs. Glenn

  3. I have a question about the reading guide.
When it asks for three words we learned, do we have to include anything else (like page number)?

  4. @Roshni: idk...i dont think we have to, but it might be helpful if you ever want to look back at it.

I have a question though. If i didn't read one day, do I still hvae to do the questions at the bottom of the page or is the packet just supposed to be a guide that i just use to see if I am on track?

  5. @Rachel: I'm doing all the questions, just incase i forget something, and need to go back and look at them, and i guess they could help keep us on track :)

  6. Hey guys just do the packet to the best of your abilities because I seriously doubt that anyone including myself read on thanksgiving day. I only read two days the whole break and I finished.

  7. Alrighty, I did the same thing. Thank you. =)

  9. Oh well I guess you should just read to wherever you should feel comfortable to and plus the packet is completed at the end of Monday. I think as long as you can complete the book on the assigned time you will be good. By the way the book is really good it is the most ineteresting one we have read this year.

  10. LOL ahah yeahh.... i agree with Danish... lol it IS one of the better books and I've liked it for a while XD umm... are we actually going to turn the packet in though? Because I haven't really been doing much of the packet... lol

  11. I think the packet is just to help us understand the book because I myself did not find any new words I learned and my reading days were really skewed in that I read most of it one day. Also the questions will help you with the quiz but I think the packetis optional because she has not put a due date one it on the calendar.

  12. I know you guys are a different breed of student, but let me know if any of you are having difficulty with the profane language, racial epithets, absence of a Black perspective, complex family and social relationships, and violence in the novel. These are all legitimate issues that are very prevelant throughout, so feel free to discuss anything that concerns or intrigues you here.

  16. for the report section of the oral and written part, can we do a summary of the book?

    ReplyDelete
  17. if we do a debate do we have to organize the people in our clas to help us like if we do a play? or can it just be like we give out opinion on out debate topic and the people in our class give their opinion?

  18. Do you have to memorize the lines in your play, if you have one? Also can I cut off a scene in a spot, so it won't be too long?

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Michael- if by summary you mean a book report, then i would guess its fine.
@Raeesa- I'm pretty sure either one is fine, as long as your still involved in the debate
@Najee- Ms. Glenn has said that having a script in hand while you're preforming is ok, and i would try to compress the scene, or cut it off after the important part of the scene.

  20. Mrs. Glenn if i were to summarize the story and talk about the main themes, is it considered lesson or report? also do i have to type out something so that i can turn it in to you tommorrow? sorry for asking these questions so late, i have been mainly working on the written part of this project.

  23. Hey Ms. Glenn,

I wanted to know how we will be turning in our project. When we turn it in on Monday would you like seperate files for each section/category or would you like the whole project in one word document? If you would like it all in one document would it be ok if I made a zipped folder for the project so I can turn my powerpoint in as well with it. Or I can just turn in the two files and can put a note on the word document that my multimedia section is the powerpoint I have attached. Please let me know what would be best. Thanks and have a great weekend!

  24. @ Prima: If you have one powerpoint and document, just compress it into a zipped folder so Mrs. Glenn can have a easier time to grade them. Its better then to search all of the students project just to look for yours, you know? (in a good way)
