"Persuasive Unit Test Forum"
Hi Students,
Please use the comments in this blog to post any questions or concerns you may have about the Persuasive Unit Test. Just to let you know, it is multiple choice, and we will be using the CPS remotes. There are 50 questions, and they cover all of the stories we've read for this unit. Check the OnMyCalendar for the titles and page numbers of the stories.
I will be checking this blog until about 10:00 pm on Thursday evening.
Happy Studying,
Mrs. Glenn

Overall do we need to know specifics about the story or just in general what the speech or story did and why it persuades?
ReplyDeletei think it would be good to just know the overall aspect of the story, but it might also help if you know the main details in the story (not all of them).... i also think that knowing the persuasive parts of the essays will be helpful on the test

ReplyDelete@zaid: i think looking over the quiz we had would also help, because all of those questions were over the persuaive parts of the stories
ReplyDeleteMs. Glenn, will there be any questions over persuasive elements and if so, what will the questions be like?
ReplyDelete"make sure you are familiar with the elements for persuasion handout, and the Persuasive Narrative handout"
ReplyDeleteHey Guys,
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarina and Payam, I knew I could count of someone from my SAT group to chime in and help. You were both right.
@Princeton, there will be some questions asking you to identify which element of persuasion is being used, or pick from a list to determine which is not an element of persuasion. I threw in some distractors from the list of "Fallacies" that was on the handout, so make sure you know the difference between each. Also, there are some specific quesions about each story like why the colony of people who lived on the moon couldn't go outside very much, and why didn't Rosa Parks give up her seat, and Why did Dr. King reference the Dec of Indep. in in speech. Things like that, and of course quesions on the use of persuasion in the stories as well.
Did zero period get the quizzes back yet?
ReplyDeleteoops, no, but they won't be that helpful. I really didn't use them for this. I'll get those back ASAP though.
ReplyDeleteOkay guys, I've stayed up as long as I could. I'm turning in. Best wishes on the test!!

ReplyDeleteMrs. Glenn, I was looking on the calendar at the list of things we need to put in our essay. It says we need 4 OFL's but the sheet you gave us said we need 2. Which one do we use?
ReplyDeleteMrs. Glenn, I know it's Saturday but I just realized that I did not get back my rough draft for my persuasive essay. So I decided to just edit it myself and get my mom to help me. Is that fine?
ReplyDeleteFor our persuasive narrative are we supposed to actually highlight our narrative/ style elements? Or is it just for you to do as a reference?
ReplyDeletei can't find the peer reviews my classmates did on my essay to correct it. am i looking in the wrong place? where SHOULD i look?
ReplyDelete@Rachel the peer reviews are in the area where you clicked the essays you reviewed (the Peermark area).
ReplyDeleteHey mr.s Glenn this is David, and i was wondering if the Greek roots are still due tomorrow.
ReplyDeletedavid she moved the date to friday, check the calendar
ReplyDeleteMrs. Glenn, is the discussion on turnitin.com? because i don't see it anywhere
ReplyDeleteMs. Glenn, don't we have a discussion to do? I can't find it. I'll keep checking... just confuzzled.
ReplyDeleteThe discussion was not there in a way of speaking. She had meetings in the afternoon, so there aren't any discussions on turnitin.com
ReplyDeleteum Ms.Glenn, how are we sappose to answer the discussion question? because you took up our comp books, and that had our notes in it?
ReplyDeleteHey Ms. Glenn.....oh wait....Raeesa already posted the question....

ReplyDeleteRead Maya Angelou's poem Caged Bird, Langston Hughe's poem, and the Paul Lawrence's poem in your text book before class on Monday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your help Nizar. You're absolutely correct, and don't forget the poems we've already read. Echo; Warning, Do Not Read This Poem, and Listeners. See you guys tomorrow.
