Poem Recital...

Hey Guys,

Use this space to post what poem from your text that you are going to present next week. Don't forget that it has to have at least 5 stanzas. Make sure you tell me the name of the poem, and the poet here. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Mrs. Glenn

  1. Hi Mrs. Glenn... I think I will do "Woman's Work" by Julia Alverez.

Also... I do not understand what poems we were supposed to read this weekend. There are two Langston Hughes poems and there is no Paul Lawrence poem.

  2. Hey Aimee, The Langston Hughes' poem was called Dream Deferred, and the Paul Lawrence Dunbar poem was called Sympathy, it preceeded Maya Angelou's poem in the textbook. Hope this helps.

  7. Mrs. Glenn,
I would like to do "Fifteen" by William Stafford, but I don't know if you would consider the last sentence to be a stanza or not, since a stanza usually contains four or more lines, so if its not then my other choice is "Gift" by Shu Ting.
    Thanks! :)
