EOCT Questions and Answer Forum

Hi Students, Use this space to bring your questions or concerns about the EOCT this week. Please keep in mind that if we have taken a portion of the EOCT, we will NOT be able to discuss that part anymore, we will only be able to discuss what's to come.

Don't forget to report directly to the "computer lab" on Tuesday and Wednesday to begin immediately on your test. We will only be given a single class period to take the test, so we can't waste any time.

As a sidebar, I'd like to say that learning the grammar of any language is challenging, and the grammar of the English language is no exception. Please know that it's not as scripted and "boxed in" as say math or some other subject that has right or wrong answers. Sometimes, it's left up to the interpretation of the person. With that being said, don't get all twisted if something I say is not exactly as you learned it in Middle School or vise versa. We were all taught by different people, and our conceptions are based on that person's interpretations of the conventions of the language. If ever in doubt, use what's in front of you... the Internet, and see what others have to say. It's okay to do that now before taking the test.

I'll be online tonight to check in on your questions, or discussions with each other.

Announcement

Hi Students,

I would just like to make you aware that I do have office hours for students if you should ever need me or have questions for me. Please do me a favor, and don't ask other teachers about me, or what we're doing in class. I am the best source for you, and you have access to me via email, or the blog.

When you are in college, you will have to follow the same procedure with contacting your instructor. Please let me know at least 24hrs in advance if you ever need to meet in person so that I can clear my schedule for you, or simply email me or comment to the most recent blog if a question should arise outside of that time frame.

Just to be clear, my office hours are 4:10 - 4:40 on Tues, Wed, and Thurs. Again, I need to know ahead of time if you'd like to meet, so that I can clear my afternoon schedule for you. Mornings are not good for me because I have a 0 period.

Thanks for your adherence to this time and schedule,

Mrs. Glenn

While trying to go in and grade the Poetry Portfolios, I have come across a problem. Turnitin.com is not letting me click on your link. It thinks I'm editing your paper, and will only let me insert a comment. Please resubmit your portfolio links in the Word document to my inbox as soon as you can. I will even accept any student who missed the deadline to submit it. Do this by Friday afternoon before you go home, so that I can grade them over the weekend. Thanks. BTW, tell everyone and anyone who may not read the blog or check the calendar as often as you do.

Poetry Unit Exam

Hi Students,

Don't forget to send me a poetry question to include in the exam for our formative assessment. All you have to do is use any of your handouts, any poem we've read in class, or any of the poetry vocabulary to create up to 3 multiple choice questions (with answers). Please send your questions to shenikaglenn@gmail.com if you'd like me to use your question.

Remember that we are using the CPS, so the questions have to be in multiple choice format.
